24. August 20, 2007.
We are back to business after vacation. It is so good to be on
vacatiion... hmm... sorry, anyway). It has been so long since we last
updated this section! You see, we were so busy. Pasttense again: the
assinment was to convert 3 scientifiic books (physics dept.) to a form
usable by blind students. It took developing a certain protocol from
scratch, converting the printed book into computer processable file
(OCR), rewriting all the formulas according to the protocol, and
correcting all the text. Now, our fellow student listens to his book
using a common screen reader or, with just a little more work from us,
we can "print" it into braille (PIAF). The project was carried in
cooperation with Univ. of Athens, dept. of informatics.
23. January 3, 2006
That was it! The EMOSI project
was shipped to the US. We shall rather use a remote administrator program to
work with their computer from Greece to install the drivers and the
software application, as the weather in New Haven is pretty rough this
time of the year. Here is the
documentation.
22. August 28, 2005
Today the hardware was delivered to NetLab. We are beginning the
development immediately.
21. May 2005
"Deal's a deal". NetLab undertook to setup a
monitoring system of environmental parameters (namely Temperature and
Humidity) at the Ikonisys Inc.
facilities - laboratories - instruments. We are placing orders for the
required hardware and software at the time.
20. March 2005
So, we were back to our main topic and we were proposed a new
assignement by an company located in the US (!). Our offer has been
made and, if they agree, we 'll let you know about.
19. March 2005
The summer of the year 2004 was so interesting. Athens held the Olympic
and Paralympic Games. NetLab moved to our new
headquarters. We 've also been assigned a totally different project: to
set up, manage and publish a new magazine for a big publishing company.
No matter our hard work and the product we presented, the project was
temperarily put off by the publisher. We hope that it will eventually
"see the light". There is also exciting news concerning Sailability Hellas organization.
18. April 30, 2004
The work with the Univ. of Athens was finished. Good project (here).
17. April, 2004
2004 has come in quite conspicuously. The trip to Australia was
scheduled since October. By new year's all running projects were
finished and closed. We flew to Melbourne on Jan. 12 and back from
Sydney on Feb. 6. We participated in the first World's Single Person Dinghy
Regatta making history. [You
can read the whole story in Greek...]
16. November 6, 2003
The development of the "SCXI Monitoring" application was completed
today. That's good news; we 'll be paid!
15. September 25, 2003
In the meantime one more assignment came up for NetLab.
It is the National
Technical Univ. of Athens at the Depatment
of Marine Engineering. They need an advanced application to monitor
(real-time) temperature and strain condition via thermocouples and
strain gages,
and to record these measerments for further analysis.
14. We'd better not frustrate you with too many words. Just follow this link. You see, it is so hard to begin a whole new activity such as Sailing for Everyone! But we succeeded! Take a look
13. June 22, 2003
It's been 15 years since my accident, which brought me a C5
quadriplegia; more
than 20 since I sailed for the last time. Last 15 years with a dream:
to
change... Read

OK, it has been a longtime since we last updated our internet site; we apologize for that. But, believe us, we had been so busy! We still are but we 'd better not put it off any longer. (Note made on November 7, 2003)
12. December 23, 2002
Yes, we know, it is only 2 days before christmas; we were supposed to
be on
vacation. But today a new undertaking was assigned to NetLab.
In cooperation with
the Univ. of
Athenns (D. of
Informatics) we shall build a Web site as Employment Watch
concerning
people with disabilities. It is a very big project with 27 partners,
run under
(and funded by) the Equal
Intiative of the EU.
11. September 27, 2002
The project "Smoker" was completed. It is a "hell of a
machine" now. You can view the Documentation
& Manual (Greek language iso-8859-7).
10. July 15, 2002
The IBEB staff decided to upgrade the Hardware as well
as
the Software (Drivers) of the machine, since it is essential to
their research. It will need of course a new software application for
this to
function. The task was assigned to
NetLab and the deadline was
set at September 30th 2002 (August is an "infertile" for work due to
Summer vacations).
9. July 4, 2002
Mr. P. Tsinganos was interviewed
by the journalist Manos Charalambakis for the newspaper Ta
Nea after the charges
that he (P. Tsinganos) brought
against the Greek Public
Transportations System for inadequacy in serving people with low
mobility.
8. April 22, 2002
New Mission for NetLab: IBEB is the Institute
of Biomedical Research and Biotechnology. It needed a Smoker-simulator
machine for their research. They called
NetLab to build the computer
application.
7. December 2, 2001
Mr. P. Tsinganos,
General Manager of NetLab, was present at the Ef
Zin expo and was interviewed by
Mr. Dimitris B. Triantafilidis, editor
in chief of the Imerisia
finacial newspaper. The interview was published on Saturday-Sunday,
December
8-9, 2001.
6. October 2001
A master's degree on
Electronics &
Automation was judged necessary for the upgrading of NetLab's
services. It is on
the way.
5. October 2001
Chloris Online is completed but it
cannot be uploaded yet, due to the lack of the appropriate hardware at
the Section
of Botany. NetLab is not responsible for
the delay.
4. August 26, 2001
Mr. P. Tsinganos,
General Manager of NetLab, participated
at the Congress on Rehabilitation Nursing, held in Thessaloniki, Hellas
(Greece)
by the Aristotle Institute.
3. June 2001
The development of the Online Version of the Chloris
database was assigned to NetLab by the Section of
Botany at the Biology
Department. Its current (testing) location is this
one.
2. June 2001
The automation
project at the Section of Ecology & Systematics at
the Biology
Department is finished and working perfectly. They do not operate
it quite often (the switches are
usually at the Off
position), who knows why.
1. May 16, 2001
NetLab is officialy starting to provide the promised
services.
